‘Kaizer Chiefs looked like they were coached by Middendorp’ – Khanye

Former South Africa under-23 star Junior Khanye has questioned Nasreddine Nabi’s coaching following kaizer chiefs’ 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United on Saturday evening.

After knocking Matsatsantsa out of the Carling Knockout Cup last weekend, Amakhosi were hoping for their second consecutive win over Gavin Hunt‘s men this season. Unfortunately for Nabi’s men, SuperSport had a solid game plan on Saturday and walked off as the winning team thanks to Tashreeq Morris’s first-half goal.

Khanye criticised Kaizer Chiefs‘ captain Yusuf Maart for his performance.

“He is always hiding Maart and he is a senior player. The young player(Samkelo Zwane), you can blame him but Maart, why is he hiding? I always say Kaizer Chiefs have average players, I must be honest. Yusuf Maart is static and doesn’t show up,” said the former Amakhosi winger.

Khanye said Kaizer Chiefs need special players if they are to win titles and compete for the league.

“I think they lacked creativity today, you need special players in big teams that have character. Even this boss Samkelo Zwane looked pretty on the ball but he is not a special player, I need to be honest.”

Amakhosi has relied on Gaston Sirino this season and has been by far their best player. Against Matsatsantsa, the 33-year-old was kept out of the match and eventually was subbed off by Nabi.

“He is relying too much on Sirino. He took him off because he is maybe trying to save him for next week, I don’t think he is injured. Today he was nowhere to be seen but he is a special player for Kaizer Chiefs.”

Kaizer Chiefs rely too much on Sirino, says Khanye

“He pretends as if he is a ball-playing coach believer but when things don’t work, he changes the way of playing. In the game today, there were too many long balls,” Khanye said on iDiski TV.

“Teams will catch you, you need special players in the middle who can surprise the opposition. In the second half, they looked like Ernst Middendorp’s team, too many long balls.”
