kaizer chiefs manager Nasreddine Nabi will move heaven and earth to sign a coveted Bafana Bafana star. Is the board, on board?
Amakhosi’s interest in Appollis isn’t dead
According to an insider source at SoccerLaduma, Chiefs boss Nasreddine Nabi is demanding that his board sanctions a move for Polokwane and Bafana winger Oswin Appollis in the January transfer window. Amakhosi tried in vain to secure the 23-year-old’s services during the winter window.
“The coach had seen his games on tape and followed him in (scouting) reports. Nabi was happy and that’s why there were talks with Polokwane City for the player. Now he has seen him in action for both club and country and he demands for him to be signed in January.”
Appollis’ form makes him an expensive option
Oswin Appollis is a rare type of player in South Africa, with a low centre of gravity and the ability to go both ways when confronted by a marker near the touchline. His rare combination of traits makes him a highly coveted operator.
Kenyan legend not moving to Kaizer Chiefs
In other transfer rumours, a mooted move for Kenyan legend Michael Olunga seems to be cooling. The 30-year-old striker bagged a hat-trick in the first match of this season’s Qatar Stars League. In his entire club career, he’s scored a stunning tally of 190 goals in 253 matches. In his last 61 league matches in Qatar, he’s scored a ludicrous 62 goals. No matter who you’re playing for, a scoring rate of more than a goal per game is absurd.
Betway Premiership returns
Amakhosi will be brimming with confidence after their 4-0 drubbing of Gavin Hunt’s SuperSport in the Carling Knockout. As fate would have it, the side meet again at the weekend in the league. Here are Chiefs’ next three Betway Prem clashes as they hope to keep that momentum up. They’ve also got a Carling Knockout quarter-final to savour against Sundowns.
